We had an early excursion today so we ordered room service for breakfast and ate on our balcony overlooking the beautiful view.

The weather was perfect and we were having such a nice time that it was hard to start getting ready for the day.

Today we rented a car and driver to take us to take us wherever we wanted for the day. It was the best excursion ever.

We met a representative from Celebrity at the shore excursion desk and he walked us off the ship and down the pier to meet our driver, who told us told us to call him Coco. He gave us a brief tour of the island and was super knowledgable.

The views on St. Thomas are spectacular.

We went to the beach and got our selves settled. I took Sweet Pea snorkeling. The smoking was good. The water was very clear, but there weren't as many fish as in Cozumel.

Sweet Pea went boogie boarding.

Grandma Trudy even got in for while. There was about a 2 feet drop-off near the waterline. It wasn't too bad going my out, but made for a very difficult exit. Grandma Trudy had a tough time getting back out, but didn't really want Ross to help her. She rightly points out that she lives alone so she had to figure out how to do thing by herself. Eventually her struggle attracted the attention of a very helpful life guard who helped her up.

The woman on the left is really upstaging what was supposed to be a photo of a stray chicken.

It was lunchtime, so after some debate, we decided to have Coco drive Ross and Grandma Trudy to pickup food for us while I stayed back at the beach with Sweet Pea, who wanted to keep playing.
Grandma Trudy was very happy to have a driver because she needed to go to a drugstore to buy some Boost, a high-energy protein drink. Coco was more than happy to drive them to the drug store. While Ross ran in and bought the Boost, Grandma remembered that she needed some SPF 4 sunblock. (She doesn't like to use a high SPF, which was all that I had brought with us.) The drugstore didn't sell such a low SPF sunblock, but suggested that they try the surf shop. The surf shop didn't sell it either but told them to try the liquor store. The finally met with success at the liquor store!
Meanwhile back at the beach, after some more body boarding, Sweet Pea was getting hungry. Luckily I had an emergency granola bar in my purse.
Now that Ross and Trudy had their Boost and sunblock, Coco was back on the road taking them to get some burgers or pizza when Ross causally said, "Is there any more authentic Caribbean food on the island?" Coco said, "Oh, yes!"
And immediately made a u-turn to take them to Dé Coal Pot.

They ordered stewed conch with rice and beans and fried green bananas. The conch was a little strange to my taste but good.

Braised goat with rice and beans and plantains. This was Ross's favorite.

A strange pastry filled with chicken vegetables and potatoes. The chicken inside was amazing.

After lunch I let Sweet Pea swim again until I realized that she had gotten more sun today than in all the rest days in the last year combined. Sure enough, despite putting sun block on her three times, she's had burned a little bit, mostly on the back of her ankles and a couple of steaks down her arms. I guess I didn't quite get her totally covered.
I made her get out of the ocean and read in the shade for our remaining beach time.

Ross and Trudy both took a little nap until it was time to go back to the boat.
