We wanted to get down to dinner around 6:15pm but it is hard to get all of us moving in the same direction. Sweet Pea and I went ahead so we could try to hold the table by the window that Grandma Trudy wanted. Of course since we were late, all the window tables were already taken. I chose another table that had a booth side for Trudy since her back bothers her when she sits in a regular chair. Once Ross and Trudy arrived, Trudy was sad that there were no window tables left. Luckily she spotted a table that was closer to the window than the on I had picked and the hostess was happy to help us move.

The amuse voucher was a potato cod fritter which was great.

The pork belly was disappointing. It had been my favorite dish on the last cruise, but time it was both tough and stringy (overcooked?) with a chewy (and not crispy) skin. It was under-seasoned to boot. The man at the table next to us actually sent his back. And he was Canadian so you know it had to be bad for him to make a complaint. :) I am surprised by how much the food changes from ship to ship.

Sweet Pea ordered burrata with prosciutto, which she liked. The burrata was nice and creamy.

Grandma Trudy and I both ordered the fillet for our entree. Grandma Trudy thought hers had too much of a grilled or char-broiled flavor, so I gave her half of mine.

Sweet Pea ordered zucchini spaghetti, which was surprisingly good. The flavor was awesome and the zucchini noodles were a very close approximation to real spaghetti.

Ross ordered the duck, which had a great flavor. The Swiss chard, trumpet mushrooms and sour cherry accompaniments were especially good. This was a really well put together dish.

Sweet Pea decided to skip dessert so she could go to the kids club.
Grandma Trudy had her standard creme brûlée. I ordered almond cake, which very good, although was more gingerbready and spicy than on the Equinox.

We also had a fun conversation with the Canadian couple next to us. She told us that they had been upgraded to a Sky Suite and gave us some info regarding our upgrade to the Penthouse. She had actually spoken to the man whose job it is to to fill empty cabins through upgrading and shuffling people around for Celebrity. Apparently this cruise had been sold out, but both the Penthouse and a Sky suite became available on the same day, probably due to a cancellation. There had been a wait list for some Aqua class cabins so he consolidated us into the Penthouse and thus freed up two connection Aqua class cabins that someone was probably willing to pay for. Very interesting.
